Research Areas

GSD Research explores questions across five domains. Each represents a field of inquiry we believe is critical to advancing human capability and preparing for expansion beyond Earth.

Biotechnology & Human Systems

We study how biology can be engineered and adapted for extreme environments. This includes genome integrity, immune resilience, and the physiological challenges of human life in low-gravity or high-radiation contexts.

Artificial Intelligence & Cognitive Systems

We explore AI systems inspired by biological intelligence. Our focus is on architectures that go beyond current axon-only neural networks — models that incorporate the complexity, efficiency, and context of real cognition.

Energy & Exotic Physics

We investigate energy systems that could power civilization-scale infrastructure. Areas of interest include alternative fusion approaches, antimatter handling, and other high-risk, high-reward concepts in physics.

Materials & Resource Science

We research how materials can be developed and resources extracted under extreme or extraterrestrial conditions. This covers advanced alloys, in-situ resource utilization, and processes to turn raw matter into usable fuel and infrastructure.

Space Engineering & Low-g Processes

We focus on the unique challenges of building and operating in low-gravity environments. This includes orbital refineries, manufacturing in space, and the systems required for sustainable off-world industry and habitation.
